Emerson R Singletary's Obituary
Homegoing Services for Emerson Rudolph Singletary, Sr. will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Leesville, with Rev. Dale Mortenson officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 8:00am to 10:00am.
Mr. Singletary was born in Alco, Louisiana on November 3, 1931 to Leland and Madeline Wise Singletary. He was called to his heavenly Father on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:16am at Byrd Hospital with his loving wife, Alice Mae by his side.
Mr. Singletary graduated from Leesville High School in 1950. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1951 and gave four years of service. After 35 years, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Some of the many passions of Mr. Singletary was praising his almighty God, his job, fishing, traveling and his family. He was a kind, loving and extraordinary giving person who gave back every day of his life. He was a simple man who took the simple pleasures of life to heart and lived so joyously.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Mae, his children: Sharon Bannister of Dacula, GA; Toni Lavergne of Zachary, LA; Lisa Piper of Mobile, AL and Buzz Singletary of Leesville, his Grandchildren: Karen Lipscomb of Mobile, AL; Chris Miller of Mobile, AL; Taneia Michelle Lavergne; Harrison Bannister of Dacula, GA, and Austin Bannister of Anderson, SC. His great-grandchildren: Maria Mae Beach of Dawsonville, Ga and Grayson Beach of Dawsonville, GA.
