Elvee Bonnie Henderson's Obituary
Funeral services for Elvee Bonnie Henderson, 87, will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 3p.m. in Smyrna Baptist Church in Sugartown. There will be a viewing from 1p.m. until time of service in the Church. Rev. Frank Ott and Rev. Ray Faulk will officiate and burial will follow immediately in Smyrna Cemetery. Mrs. Henderson passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 in her residence.
Affectionately known as Grandma or Great Moo, she will be remembered as a kind and loving person who extended a deep and compassionate friendship to everyone she knew. She was born and reared in Baton Rouge and recieved a B.S. in Social Studies from Louisiana State University before moving to DeRidder in 1975 with her Husband. Grandma loved to travel and also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; conversing and listening to family music sessions; playing dominoes and scrabble; sharing stories, ancedotes and working on her genealogy.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Samuel Robert Henderson; four children, Harry Hutches Henderson and Kerryl Lynne Henderson of DeRidder, Dr. Richard Wayne and Carol Henderson of Florence, SC. and Dr. Thomas C. and Joelle Henderson of Salt Lake City, UT; Nine Grandchildren, Tara Bonnie Henderson, Ashley Shane Henderson, Bonnie Brooke George, Brian Robert Henderson, Laura Noelle Russell, Loik Samuel Marcel Henderson, Christopher Alexander Henderson, Ian Thomas Henderson and Natalie Claire Joelle Henderson; Seven Great Grandchildren, Chloe Henderson, Noah Barber, Autumn George, Ethan Chase George, Katherine Isabella Melaine Henderson, Charlotte Eloise Piper Henderson and Aiden Alexandre Agraz Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Hutches Piper and Eliza Elvee Bozeman Piper and three brothers, Alder, Toliver, and Harry.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the numerous friends, neighbors, caregivers, hospital and hospice staff who helped make the last few months easier for Grandma and the family. Grandma will be sorely missed, but we look forward to seeing her on the other side in God's glory!
