Elsie Moses Travis' Obituary
Elsie Moses Travis departed this earthly world at the age of 88 yrs.,
on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Services will be held under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Truman Moses officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Friday evening, March 25, 2011, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery of DeRidder.
Mrs. Travis was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She served as draft board clerk in Beauregard Parish until her retirement when the draft was abolished in 1972. She also worked tax season for Wooten & Johnson Bookkeeping Service. Mrs. Travis served as secretary/treasurer of the Beauregard Fair Association for many years.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of 67 years, James Travis of DeRidder; three sons, Raulin Travis and wife Dottie of DeRidder, Charles Travis and wife Becky of DeRidder and Bartley Travis of DeRidder; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ida Moses. Also, preceding her were three brothers, Elmer, Wilmer and Winfred Moses and two sisters, Delia Kemp and Ila Cooley and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Denby Travis.
