Graveside services for Elmer “Grumpy The Clown” Edwards, 95, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Magnolia Cemetery, Ragley, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Elmer was born on June 10, 1928 in Orange, TX to his parents, Louis and Tressie Anderson Edwards. He passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 in Keller, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Louis & Tressie Edwards; wife: Beva Louise Edwards; son: Donald Ray Edwards; sisters: Alma L. Wardle, and Helen Hoffpauir.
Elmer Edwards was a family man through and through, he had a full life as a devoted husband to his loving wife of over 50 years, and as a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He served in the United States Navy. He belonged to the DeRidder, Magnolia, and Sam Todd Masonic lodges. He was a Shrine Clown as well as a member of the Scottish Rite and Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Mr. Edwards was a very strong, loving, and selfless man who spent most of his spare time helping and serving others whether at church, his local community, or bringing smiles to people's faces as “Grumpy the Clown” at Shriner events. Children loved and adored him at every Shrine Circus he attended, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his grandsons: Donald Edwards & wife Nicole of Trophy Club, TX, Stephen Edwards; great-grandchildren: Ashlyn and Brooklyn Edwards; sister: Johnnie Mae Maul of DeRidder.
