Elizabeth Ann DeRush Tyson (Liz)'s Obituary
Elizabeth Ann DeRush Tyson (Liz) passed away on January 26, 2025. She was born on March 1, 1962 to Gerald and Florine DeRush.
She was a proud resident of Hicks, La and a graduate of Hicks High School Class of 1980.
She worked at Radio America on Entrance Road for 15+ years. Then she went to work at the military police office for 2 years and presently worked at Valiant Integrated Services for 20+ years as Facility Monitor and known as “Ms. Tyson”. She loved to work and when she was on the clock she was all business but at home she was Liz, Lizzie or MawMaw Lizzie.
She loved her family. When she became maw maw in 2005 her world was complete. She spent every available minute with her grandkids when she was not sleeping or working. Over the last few years of her life her fur baby Boots was the one that she had in the bed with her every night. She loved all animals and enjoyed babysitting her grand dog Luna. She almost had as many dog pictures on her phone as she did grandkid pictures.
She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald DeRush September 1, 1973.
She is survived by her son, Vernon Tyson Jr. (Holly); grandchildren, Madelean Tyson, Shelby Tyson, Wyatt Pollard and Gabriel Pollard; mother, Florine Drake; father, Johnnie Drake; brother, Terry Lynn DeRush; nephew, Augustus DeRush (Courtney); great nephew, Cooper DeRush and sister, Vonda Kay McGraw(Gary), nephew, Dusty Harper (Tonya) great niece, Aribella Harper, great nephew, Newt Harper, nephew Egan Harper (Cheyenne), great nephew Chase and nephew Derek McGraw.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hicks Pentecostal Church with Bro. Louis Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Glass Window Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.
