Elizabeth "Betty" Ashworth's Obituary
Funeral services for Elizabeth “Betty” Ashworth, 80, of Leesville will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Gil Arthur and Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Pine Island Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, August 4th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 5th from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Ashworth passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish. Mrs. Ashworth retired from the U.S. Army Civil Service as a Nurses Assistant. She was a longtime member of Sandy Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Church Clerk / Treasurer. She was currently a member of East Leesville Baptist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by husband; Lonnie Ashworth; brothers, Fred Bolton, Ted Bolton & Curtis Bridges and sister, Jenette Bolton.
She is survived by her daughters Bobbie Jean Benson, Bonita Berry ( Mike), Lonnie Sue Thomas, Charline Canady ( Gene) & Tamara RuNell Vincent “Tammy” ( Jay) all of Leesville, Louisiana; son John Ellis Ashworth “Sam” ( Sue) of Pineville, Louisiana; sister Lucy Lee Chism of Hornbeck, Louisiana; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a host of nephews & nieces.
