Eleanor Huehn's Obituary
Eleanor Huehn, 85, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, December 17, 2012.
Eleanor was born on December 31, 1926, to Elizabeth Murdock Edgars and George Viller Edgar at Chester PA. The family later moved to Camden, NJ. Unfortunately her sister Dorothy was killed in a car accident at the age of 14 then 2 years later, her father passed away of cancer. After her father’s death, Eleanor and her mother moved back to Ireland for a short while. They soon returned to America and while her mother was stuck in the cabin sea sick, Eleanor befriended a nice gentleman by the name of Jack Wilson. It’s as if she had chosen her new father because Jack and Eleanor’s mom Elizabeth eventually married until parted by death many many years later. Eleanor met the love of her life Elmer Huehn when she was 17 years old and her mother made her wait until she was 21 to finally marry Elmer. They were married on May 31, 1948, and remained happily married for 58 years until he passed on to be with our Lord on September 29, 2006. Eleanor moved to DeRidder in 2007, after the death of her husband to be closer to her family. She was the founder of the Prayer Shawl ministry at Redeemer Lutheran Church of DeRidder. She proudly served as a volunteer Pink Lady at Beauregard Memorial Hospital and was very active in her church.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Sheila Churchill and husband Paul of DeRidder, LA; 2 granddaughters, Allison Churchill and Jeannine Huehn Knapp; 4 grandsons, Richard Huehn, Daniel Huehn, Kevin Churchill, Christopher Churchill and 8 great grandchildren, Adam, Andrew and Jessica Knapp, Richard and Kayla Huehn, Haley Ryan, Eli Churchill and Kyle Huehn. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband and son Gary Edgar Huehn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Minister officiating will be Rev. Gary Archbald.
Her visitation will begin on Friday, December 21, 2012, 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 811 Shirley St. DeRidder, LA 70634.
