Elaine Spurgeon Cox's Obituary
Funeral services for Elaine Spurgeon Cox, 83 of Hicks, will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2 pm at Flactor Baptist Church in Hicks, with Rev. Jeff Smart and Bro. Huey Haymon officiating. Burial will be at the Flactor Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1st, from 3pm until 9pm and on Wednesday, March 2nd, from 9am until time of service all at the church.
Elaine the daughter of John and Martha Deason Spurgeon was born on March 7, 1932, in Hicks, Louisiana. She passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016, in Hicks, LA.
Mrs. Cox was a retired RN and she worked all over the state of Louisiana and finally retiring from Tri Parish Rehab. She loved gardening and farming and especially her beef master cattle. She was a strong Christian Woman who loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Johan and Martha Spurgeon; and her husband, Troy E. Cox; and her daughter, LaQuita Cox; she was the last surviving sibling of four children.
She is survived by her daughters, Angie & husband, Matt Strother of Hicks, LA and Dodie & husband, Russell Taras of the Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Dalan Hadnot, Reese Hadnot, Craig Parady and Matt Strother, II and great-grandchildren, Keauxdy Strother, Ashlynn Strother, Brooklyn Parady and Zoey Parady.
