Rev. E.J. Bradshaw's Obituary
A celebration of life for Rev. Ernest Julius Bradshaw will be held at 1:00p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the East Leesville Baptist Church with his son Rev. David L. Bradshaw, Sr. and Rev. Jerry Key officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the church.
Bro. Brad, as he was affectionately called, was born November 22, 1927 in Mangham, LA, to William Ernest and Oretus Dilmore Bradshaw. He was called to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
Bro. Brad received his G.E.D. in Mangham, LA then went on to earn his BA from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe in 1959. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Fort Worth, TX, and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. During WWII he worked for Illinois Central Railroad, and also worked for the Commercial Solvents Plant in Sterlington, LA.
He was Licensed and ordained to Preach the Gospel at First Baptist Church of Sterlington, LA in 1952.
He pastored Enterprise Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA, Bethel Baptist Church in Dubach, Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington from 1953-1958. He was Pastor at Southside Baptist in Olney, Texas from 1959-1962, Sunnyside Baptist in Wichita Falls, Texas from 1962-1964, First Baptist Lovington, New Mexico from 1964-1971, First Baptist Los Alamos, New Mexico from 1971-1985. He served as Student Recruitment and Consultant for the Evangelistic Division of the mission board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1985-1991, then as Volunteer Pastor for First Baptist Glendive, Montana. In 1992 he moved back to Louisiana and served as Pastor and/or Interim for Cooper Baptist Church in Leesville, LA, Flactor Baptist Church in Hicks, LA, Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle, LA, and Pine Hill Baptist Church in Leesville, LA. Since 2005 He has served as the Director of the Vernon Baptist Association.
Bro. Brad has served as moderator of Baptist Associations in Texas, Southeastern New Mexico, Louisiana. He has served on the Executive Board, including as President, in the New Mexico Baptist Convention, and the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
In the span of his lifetime he has preached over 70 revivals in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, and Montana. He has led in training witnesses for Christ in North and South Dakota, Georgia, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region.
Bro. Brad always tried to live by one goal and that was to share his faith with at least one lost person each day.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Bobbie Lee Bradshaw, and his Granddaughter Teresa Hornburger.
He is survived by: His Three Sons: Ernest Julius Bradshaw, Jr., Alan Jerome Bradshaw and his wife Fran, and David Lee Bradshaw, Sr. and his wife Miriam; His Brother: W.A. Bradshaw and his wife Shirley; and his Brother-in-law: Jerry R. Roberts and his wife Thelma. His Grandchildren: David Bradshaw, Jr. and his wife Kristi, Keith Bradshaw and his wife Lorena, Candace Bradshaw, and Kimberly Thomass and her husband Nathan. Great Grandchildren: Ashland, Abigail, Noah, Eli, and Kian.
