Eileen Search Hartzell Stannard's Obituary
Funeral services for Eileen Search Hartzell Stannard, 96, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20th, at East Leesville Baptist Church Rev. Jeff Smart and Rev. Jerry Keys officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19th, at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Eileen, the daughter of Clifford and Gladys Bell Search Hartzell, was born March 30, 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Rosepine, LA.
Eileen was a member of East Leesville Baptist Church, founding member of Verbeau African Violet Club, Pilot Club and other service organizations, including OWC and PTA.
Mrs. Stannard graduated from Temple University. She taught at Simpson High School for seven years and Leesville High School for eight years.
Eileen loved music, including teaching piano at Washington Bible College. She also played the organ and the harp. Singing in Temple University and Church choirs were her privilege. She also loved the Army and assisted her husband, John, in his chaplain activities. She served our Country uniquely and well. Eileen taught Sunday School at East Leesville Baptist Church and loved serving our Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Esther Milas and brother, Louis Hartzell.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years John Sumner Stannard of Leesville; son, Douglas Monroe Stannard of Leesville; daughter, Gail Darlene Stannard Rikard of Checotah, OK; sister, Hazel Soliday; grandson, David Christopher Mills and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to East Leesville Baptist Church.
