Edward R/ Propst Jr.'s Obituary
Edward R. Propst, Jr., 60, entered into rest on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home in DeRidder. Edward was born on August 5, 1963, to Edward and Anna Gail Hughes Propst, Sr. at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
A Celebration of Life for Edward will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Spring Creek Baptist Church, located at 487 HWY 1147, DeRidder, LA 70635. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Edward was the youngest of four children, with three older sisters. As a young child, he grew up in the mountains of Morgantown, West Virginia (also known by his family as “up home”) and he then moved to DeRidder, Louisiana where he was a graduate of the class of 1981 of DeRidder High School. He lived the majority of his adult life in DeRidder where he was a service to others in the community through his careers as an EMT, a Firefighter, a Policeman, and as a Correctional Officer. He had the most infectious smile and always loved a good joke and knew how to tell the best stories. And as a side note, he was the biggest John Wayne fan, loving to watch all of his westerns. But most importantly, he loved his family and friends, and will always be known for lending a helpful hand whenever possible no matter the situation. His departure from this life was sudden and unexpected and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all those who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Abby Fontenot and husband Nick of Ragley; grandson, Rhett Fontenot; sisters, Brenda Sines of DeRidder, Debbie Paugh of Morgantown, WV, and Barbara Propst of St. Clairsville, OH; aunt, Betty Kelly of Mr. Morris, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna Gail Propst; half-sister, Linda Pase; half-brother, Jim L. Propst, Sr.
