Edna Brock's Obituary
Edna Mae (Guinn) Brock passed away peacefully of natural causes in her sleep on June 8, 2015, at the Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Mo.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Labby Funeral Home, 601 S. Fourth St., Leesville, La., on Saturday, June 13, 2015, with visitation at 2 p.m. and funeral services following at 3 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at Welcome Cemetery in Simpson, La.
She was born in Hornbeck, La., 100 years ago on April 20, 1915, and was the oldest of four children of Andrew and Rosa Guinn. Her brothers were Elvie Guinn, Eddie Guinn and Loyd Guinn (all deceased).
A move to the Kansas City, Mo., area in the early 1950s led to a lifelong career as a hair beautician and beauty salon owner. Her most noted client was Bess Truman (spouse of President Harry Truman) who “liked the girl with the southern accent.” She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and donated countless hours of free hair services to nursing home residents on her days off.
She leaves seven children: Bernie Cabra (deceased) and his spouse Bobbie, Gallatin, Mo.; Wayne Cabra (deceased) and his spouse, Inis, Kansas City, Mo.; Thomas Cabra and his spouse, Zandy, Fort Worth, Texas; Patsy Lloyd, Cary, N.C.; Lloyd Cabra and his spouse, Shari, Warsaw, Mo.; Sue Huntoon and her spouse, Ivan, Kansas City, Mo.; and Rita Weighill and her spouse, Mike, Parkville, Mo.
She has 20 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many beloved multiple generations of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Known and respected as the “praying grandma,” the loving prayers she bestowed on those around her and of those in her thoughts and memories will forever surround and support those she loved.
