Funeral services for Douglas Reed Walters, 72, of Seiper, LA will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville with Rev. Roland D. George and Rev. Saundra Hillman Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lacamp, LA. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Doug, the son of Almon and Hazel Peavey Walters, was born on May 3, 1937 in Simpson, Louisiana. He passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini in Alexandria, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Simpson and member of Mora House Of Prayer for 18 years. He served two years in the National Guard and served in the Air Force from 1956 until 1960 as a 2nd Class Airman. He worked for the Government for 37 years and retired from Fort Polk on October 31, 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Catherine Faye Walters of Seiper, children, Benjamin Busby, Mary Kersey, Richard Lloyd Busby, Teresa Hinderson, Wanda Faye Flakes, and Douglas Reed Walters, Jr., daughters-in-law, Troylene Geoghagan Busby, & Marla Haddox Busby, brother, Edward A. Walters, sister, Janice Spratling, twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
