Douglas Wayne Blackwell's Obituary
Funeral services for Douglas Wayne Blackwell, 66, of Simpson will be Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle with the burial to follow Comrade Cemetery in the Hutton Community. The Rev. Terry Ward, Rev. Greg Blackwell and the Rev M. C. Green will officiate. Friends may call from 6 PM until 10 PM Monday, October 22nd and then 9 AM until service time in the church Tuesday, October 23rd.
Mr. Blackwell was born in Pineville, LA he passed away Saturday, October 20th in his residence in Simpson. He was a lifelong resident of the Simpson area. He retired as a Planner & Estimator at Fort Polk after 23 years. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Elvie Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Martha Lewis Blackwell of Simpson; Sons, Jason (wife, Tracey) Blackwell of New Llano, LA, Shane (wife, Tonya) Blackwell of Simpson, and Daniel Blackwell and his companion, Tammy of Wichita, Kansas; Daughters, Shonna (husband, Perry) Venable of Gainesville, Georgia and Dana (husband, Mitch) Ryder of Gainesville, GA; Mother, Thelma Blackwell of DeRidder, LA; Siblings, Marie Slatten of DeRidder, Wanda McClure of Lincolnton, Georgia and Wade Blackwell of Hemphill, TX. Grandchildren, Will Little, Taylor Ryder, Mashaelie Blackwell, Gayle Blackwell,Samantha Blackwell and Brady Blackwell; host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Antioch Baptist Church, Comrade Cemetery Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
