Doris Yvonne (Dukes) Rogers known as Yvonne, passed away May 12, 2024 at Pointe Coupee Healthcare. Her sons watched over and cared for her, especially during her last days. We know that at her last breath on earth she was greeted by her precious Savior.
“ But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and Ecclesia of the Firstborn (Jesus) who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which says better things than the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:22-24
She is survived by her two sons; Joel Rogers and wife Jill, Mike Rogers and wife Dianthe all of Saint Francisville. Yvonne’s pride and joy were her grandchildren; Amanda (Rogers) Richard, Logan Rogers, Morgan Rogers, and Broddie Rogers. And her eight great grandchildren; Kelli, Balin, and Sawyer Richard; Evalee and Coy Rogers; Quinn Rogers and Malachi and Maliah Anderson. She is also survived by her brother, Norman Dukes and two sisters; Nelda Welch and Nancy Massey.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Everett Scott and her daughter, Lynda Sue. And, two sisters, Evelyn Robinson and Janet Sue Cooke.
Yvonne worked for 30 years as a dental assistant. She played the piano and led music at her church for many years. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing the old hymns. She also taught Sunday school, teaching children and adults. She was ready to share the Good News about Jesus’ love and mercy to the people she met. She liked nothing better than to be with her family and especially enjoyed arranging family reunions because she loved everyone being together and family was important to her. For years, she and her sisters had Bible study and prayer each morning over the phone where they shared lots of love and laughter, and prayed for their families. It is one of the things the sisters missed the most as various health issues kept them from getting together in later years. Yvonne’s last few years were hard because of her declining health but the majority of her life was filled with family and purpose and we will miss her greatly.
