Doris Marie McElveen's Obituary
Funeral services for Doris Marie McElveen, 79, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 31st, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., Sunday, December 30th, at the funeral home then Monday, December 31st, 9:00 am until service time in the funeral home.
Doris, the daughter of William and Alta Guckian was born October 20, 1933 in Gonzales, Texas. She passed away Thursday, December 27th in Alexandria.
Doris formerly worked at South Central Bell as an Operator, then as a nurses Aid at Byrd she also was a full time homemaker and loved to cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward McElveen, grandson, William Edward Orme 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Left to cherish Doris Marie’s memory is her son, James Collins “Scooter” and wife Susie McElveen of Anacoco, LA, daughters, Sharon Kay McElveen of Leesville and Shirley Jean and husband Mike Orme of Anacoco; Sister-in-laws Francis Guckian, Margie Guckian, Jackie Jackson and Eunice and husband Clinton Kay; 7 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, also a number of nephews, nieces and extended family of which she deeply loved.
The McElveen family wants to sincerely thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Riverside Hospital and the Compassionate Care Hospice for all the love and care they gave to Doris.
