Doris Jenkins Maum's Obituary
Doris Jenkins Maum passed away at home in Clinton, MS on November 10, 2023. She was born in Station Camp, KY on March 15, 1936 to Claude and Mabel Rice Jenkins. She married Winfred “Bo” Maum on June 2, 1957 to whom she was married until his death in February, 2016.
Doris graduated from Longville High School in 1954 and went on to graduate from McNeese State University in 1958 where she majored in Elementary and Special Education. She taught elementary school for 30 years retiring in 1989. Doris was a member of Broadlands Bible Church in DeRidder, LA. Besides her church activities, Doris was active in many civic and social organizations in DeRidder and Slidell, LA. Doris was an avid gardener who filled her yard with flowers and plants. Over the years, Mrs. Maum taught hundreds of children to read and write. She herself was a voracious reader and enjoyed handwriting letters and cards every week. Doris enjoyed the holidays and decorated her house for each one. She also loved making special treats of pies, cakes, and candy.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude & Mabel Jenkins; husband; Winfred Eugene Maum; brothers: Lowell Jenkins, Darrell Jenkins: sons-in-law: George Harsch, Jr., Steve Knight; sister-in-law; Glenda Jenkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Randall E. Maum & wife Rebecca of St. Francisville, LA, Ronald C. Maum & wife Shirley of Haughton, LA, Donald G. Maum & wife Janice of Sauk City, WI, Donita Lynne Maum Harsch Knight of Clinton, MS, Cheryl Diane Maum Taylor & husband Richard of High Point, NC; brother; Gene Jenkins & wife Sylvia of DeRidder, LA; sister-in-law; Donna Babineaux of Idaho; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder with Bro. Tim Bergen officiating. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
