Doris was born on January 24, 1948 in Leesville, Louisiana to her parents, Willie Murl & Ellen Catherine Slaydon. She passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in Alexandria
“Dot” was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish having graduated from Pickering High School in 1965. She worked many years as a florist at Billy’s Flower Shop before eventually owning her own shop, Flowers by Dot. Later in life, Dot worked at Pickering Elementary School as a paraprofessional touching many young lives before retiring. She was a charter member of the Full Gospel Church of Leesville. Dot made friends easily and loved being among family. Dot’s blue eyes were her signature trait along with a smile that brightened a room. A message from her senior yearbook summed up Dot nicely, “To the toughest girl I ever met.”
