Matt and Addi barrel racing. He was so proud of Addi on that horse. I loved watching them work together. Christina and the boys were always there too. Also at Addie's volleyball and basketball games. He and Christina and the boys were always there. He was there for all his kids. It was a joy to watch. R.I. P. Pierce. Thank you for your service to our country. My first squad leader, was the first leader I had when I joined the Army in 2014. From day one, he treated all of us like family — the kind of leader who truly cared about his soldiers. He even gifted us our first dog when I had my twins, just because that’s who he was.
He was tough, funny, and real — the only man I ever saw drink a Monster, smoke two cigarettes, and still crush a two-mile run finishing top five. He taught me what it meant to be a leader, to look out for your people, and to always stand on what’s right.
Most people don’t get as lucky as myself, Lidner, Rettig, Ruko, and Durant. We were blessed to have one of the best squad leaders any new private could ever ask for. The kind of leader who left a mark that time can’t erase.
