Donnis Marie James' Obituary
Donnis Marie James, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and faithful servant of God, passed from this life on May 31st, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering faith.
Donnis was born to Varnell Hester Neal and Woodrow "Pete" Cooley on July 11th, 1941. Though she was an only child, she often shared that she always wished for siblings. That wish was beautifully fulfilled when she married Wallace and became part of the large James family. She lovingly embraced her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as her own brothers and sisters, cherishing the close bonds they shared throughout her life. She also found family in the many friendships she treasured, treating every dear friend as a sibling and loved one.
For 61 wonderful years, Donnis shared a beautiful marriage with the love of her life, Wallace James. Their lives were rooted in the Markee Community of Pitkin, Louisiana, where they raised their family and created countless cherished memories.
Donnis was a gifted florist whose talent brought beauty and joy to countless lives. Whether arranging flowers for special celebrations or offering comfort during difficult times, she had a remarkable ability to express love through her creativity. She was also an avid reader and talented writer who found joy in words and storytelling.
Donnis loved the Lord with all her heart and sincerely shared her faith through many years of teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She found great joy in helping children learn about God's love and left a lasting impact on countless young lives.
She is survived by her children: Travis James of Rosepine, Louisiana; Laura Johnson and husband, Douglas Johnson, of Pitkin, Louisiana; and Tracy James of Pitkin, Louisiana. Brandi James, Travis “T.J” James, Laken Johnson, Landa Wright (Joshua), Levi Butler, Lauren Nugent, Tiffany Fee (Dalton), Dillan Hester. Great Grandchildren: Tryton James, Jasper James, Diesel James, Chevy James, Ava Wright, Myles Wright, Lauraleigh Nugent, Rorie Fee, Wyatt Fee, Riker Fee, Ada Fee, Dawson Fee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace James, daughter, Lorrie Hester, and parents Varnell Hester Neal and Woodrow “Pete” Cooley.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
