Donald "Don" Thompson's Obituary
Funeral services for Donald “Don” Thompson, 78, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Cold Springs Baptist Church in Anacoco with Rev. Jackie Bonds officiating. Burial will follow in the McInnis Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 3rd from 5 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, January 4th from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
Don, the son of Daniel Audine and Dennie Lancaster Thompson was born October 15, 1935, in Temple, Texas. He passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in Many.
Mr. Thompson went to school in Temple, TX. He joined the United States Navy in 1952 serving three years and six months. After his service in the military he went to Guam for eighteen months and worked as an airplane mechanic. He moved to Anacoco, LA in 1956 and worked at Fort Polk as a floor polisher for O’Neal Construction for fourteen months. In 1959 he moved to Dallas, TX and worked for Dallas Airmotive for fifteen months. He then moved back to Anacoco in 1961 and worked for MMM Furniture for 20 years. After his retirement in 1981 he started volunteering for Helping Hands in Leesville. Donnie was a longtime member of Cold Springs Baptist Church. He loved to work puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie Lou McInnis Thompson and son, Dennis Thompson.
He is survived by his son, Danny G. & wife, Gwen Thompson of Anacoco; daughter, Christina D. & husband Kevin Clark of Hornbeck and grandchildren, Shawn Thompson of Anacoco, Christopher Clark of Hornbeck and Krystal Clark of Hornbeck
