Donald William Aden's Obituary
Funeral services for Donald W. Aden, of Hornbeck, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Hornbeck Baptist Church of Hornbeck with Bro. Greg Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck.
Visitation will be Monday, September 27, 2021 from 12::00 P.M until time of service in the church.
1SG Donald W. Aden was born on July 29, 1943, in Beaumont, TX on the Neches River in a Riverboat. Don passed from this life at the age of 78, on September 22, 2021. He was the son of R. C Aden Sr. and Lucy Permilia Williams and raised with the help of his great uncle and aunt Y. Z and Peb Rainwater.
Don was a long time resident of Hornbeck, LA. He was a giant of a father, grand-father, uncle brother and friend.
Don was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and others. After retiring from the Army in 1988, Don went to work at Range Control for Civil Service and retiring in 2009, he worked for the Federal Government a total of 42 years (20 years active military and 22 years of civil service). The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, which his friends and family can attest to.
Don was a “Jack of all Trades” he could rebuild a TV to pulling/rebuilding an engine to building a home. Don was always working on something to be fixed on his home or a vehicle or out mowing the lawn. Don loved to fish when the wife allowed. Don could spend hours or days on Toledo Bend Lake. He had much pride in his home and family. When he was not outside he was watching movies, sports, news/weather or playing solitaire.
Don is preceded in death by his siblings; Raye Aden, R.C. Aden Jr (Junior), Doris Aden Paskell and Lucy Aden Phillips, daughters; Penny Cleveland Keel and Vickie Renee Aden, son; David William Aden.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Opal Jean Aden, his three daughters; Tammie Aden Carter of Beaumont, TX., Rhonda Aden and Jamie Aden of Hornbeck, LA., grandsons; Christopher Carter of Fort Worth, TX., and David Keel of Galveston, TX., grand-daughter; Brittany Keel McNabe of Lafayette, LA., sisters; Fay Lasalle of Sulphur, LA., Estelle Turner of DeRidder, LA., and brothers; Lacy Aden of Oakdale, LA., James of Leesville, LA., Raymond of Leesville, LA., and Ronald Aden of Fisher, LA., four great-grandchildren; Nikki, Everett, Madelynn, Penelope and many extended family members and dear friends.
