Don H. Hollingsworth's Obituary
Don H. Hollingsworth, 54, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Galveston, Texas. Born on January 16, 1971, in Groves, Texas to David and Kathy Hollingsworth (née Waltrip), Don lived a life rich with love and laughter that touched everyone he met.
A proud Navy veteran who served his country with honor and dedication, Don carried the values of service into every aspect of his life. He was not just a jack of all trades; he was an artist at heart—whether it was working meticulously on cars both full-sized and miniature or crafting beautiful pieces from metal later in life. His creativity knew no bounds as he transformed everyday materials into works of art that reflected his unique spirit.
Don had an infectious sense of humor that made him the comedian among friends and family. He could light up any room with his quick wit and playful banter. Whether sharing stories over bingo nights or cheering for his favorite NASCAR drivers during races—his enthusiasm brought joy to those around him.
He cherished spending time outdoors camping under the stars or duck hunting by tranquil waters where laughter echoed through the trees. These moments were precious to him; they were opportunities to bond with loved ones while creating memories that would last forever.
Above all else was Don's devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Dreama Ward Hollingsworth; their children Derek Hall and Rylee Hall; mother Kathy Pickering; brother Jorge Hollingsworth; sister Kirsten Pickering; aunt Denice Hutchinson; along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Dondon deeply. Each member held a special place in his heart as he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to nurturing relationships filled with love.
Preceded in death by his father David Hollingsworth—a man whose legacy lives on through Don’s unwavering strength—the impact he left behind will be felt for generations to come. Paternal grandparents Presley and Gay Hollingsworth; maternal grandparents Art and June Waltrip; uncles Rick Waltrip and Deen Hollingsworth; in-laws Art and Denise Ward; along with dear friend Kelly Williams—a bond forged through shared experiences that will forever be remembered.
Visitation will take place on Saturday May 17 from 11 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM at Labby Memorial in DeRidder where friends are invited to gather together celebrating this remarkable man's extraordinary journey through life—a journey marked by kindness towards others coupled with unyielding passion for everything he did.
In honoring Don's memory let us remember not only how much we loved him but also how much joy we can bring into each other's lives just like he did so effortlessly throughout ours.
