Dianetta Smith-Maxie's Obituary
Dianetta Gwendolyn Smith – Maxie was born to the union of Mrs. Annie Ruth Edwards-Dais and Mr. Henry Christopher Smith, July 17, 1954, in Leesville, LA. She completed high school and then had her handsome son Gregory Allen Smith, born to the union of Dianetta G. Smith and Gregory Tyler. She later married Charles E. Smith, and to this union was born two lovely daughters, LaShunda M. Smith and Crystal L. Smith. Her career started when she worked on Fort Polk at In/Out Processing Center for several years, later begun working at Civilian Personnel on Fort Polk as a mail carrier. She then worked at West Leesville Elementary and Leesville Junior High as a paraprofessional. She later had the opportunity to work at Vernon Middle School as an Administrative Assistant. Later, she received her degree in secretarial school while working there for 35 years until she retired July 1, 2018.
Dianetta loved to sing praises to her Lord and Saviour and proudly sung in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Choir growing up, New Light Educational District Choir and also sung in the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Choir, where she served as Choir President until her death. She wanted to be remembered as a devoted mother who loved her children, grandchildren and family with all of her heart. She was a faithful Child of God who gave unselfishly to others and genuinely cared about people. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She quietly departed this life Sunday May 1st, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Maxie, mother, Annie Ruth Dais; father, Henry Christopher Smith and brother, John Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Gregory Smith (Deshone), Baton Rouge, LA; two daughters, LaShunda Turner (Charles), New Llano, LA , Crystal Smith(Michael), Fort Worth, TX; one sister, Lillie Allen, New Llano, LA, seven grandchildren, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
