Del Lavonne Sweat's Obituary
Del Lavonne Sweat, 66, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born on June 28, 1959 in Beaumont, Texas. Del was a hardworking and dedicated man who worked as a Quality Representative Contractor. Known for his quiet strength, dependability, and generous spirit, he was someone others could always count on. Del was thoughtful, non-judgmental, and kind-hearted -a man who preferred to show love through his actions more than his words.
He shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cyndi Everett Sweat. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. Del was a proud father to his sons, Chais Sweat and wife Delaina and Chance Sweat and wife Lisa both of New Orleans, Louisiana. He also cherished his role as “Papu” finding great joy in spending time with his 3 grandchildren, Honore’, Evangeline, and Christian.
In his free time, Del loved working on his tractor and being outdoors. He also enjoyed simply being with his family and helping others in any way he could. He is survived by his sister Ronda Kay Garris and husband Michael of Vidor, Texas; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Truman Sweat and Ethel Estelle Swain Sweat of Pitkin, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. A graveside service will follow on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lewis Cemetery, with Rev. Alfred Kennedy officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Brandon Garris, Justin Dowden, Dale Cryer, Dalton Everett, Steven Everett, and Dylan Everett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Del’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
