David James Riley “Davo”On June 1st, this life ended for David Riley. In an instant he moved on to heaven, leaving this world behind.David was a long-time resident of Deridder. He was born in Lake Charles, attending school in Deridder. He graduated from Deridder High School in 2010 where he served as First Chair Tuba in the band, was a member of the DHS Soccer team and served as the videographer for the football team. He started working for several years at Brookshire Brothers while in high school, worked as a route driver for Southwest Beverages, then moved to Ruston for a year, working for Super One Foods. Coming back to Deridder, he eventually started work at Highway/Benoit Ford as a Lube Tech, working his way into a line technician position. In 2021 he moved to Mike Willis Ford, and began training to become a Ford certified technician.In 2016 he met Megan, who would become the love of his life. In time they brought their son Denver into the world and began building a life together. Megan started schooling for a veterinarian technician certification and started work at the Animal Care Clinic in Rosepine. In 2021, to celebrate their love, they traveled to Seattle, where they exchanged vows and enjoyed a wonderful vacation.On this past Wednesday, while coming home from work with a coworker, David was killed in a traffic accident. He leaves behind his loving wife Megan; adoring son Denver; loving sisters Megan Riley of DeRidder and Erin Riley of Groves, TX; parents Tim and Teresa Hunt of DeRidder, Tommy and Wanell Riley of Interlochen, FL; grandparents Loretta Robertson Forque of Leesville, Jim and Shari Riley of Charlotte, NC, Howard Hunt of Cannon Falls, MN and Ray and Jackie Granger of DeRidder, along with hosts of friends and extended family.We ask that all our friends and family extend their prayers and love for David to our family in this time of great sorrow. He was the kindest and most loving person. To his friends, he was an honest and true friend, willing to give you the shirt off his back, to his immediate family he was a loving husband, father, son, & brother. Not a day will go by that we will not miss him very, very much, and we will cherish the time we had together.We are comforted to know that he is now in heaven, and we pray that God will grant us the strength to continue in this world without him.Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 4:00 P.M - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with Rev. Craig Forque officiating.
