Although Darnell was my Aunt, we had a different sort of relationship since she was only two years older than me. As young children, Darnell was a favorite playmate and a willing participant in whatever mischievous schemes we could invent as we played outside. I remember playing hopscotch, baseball and climbing trees together on Sunday afternoons as the adults lounged on the front porch or sat under the trees. We sometimes spent the night together and shared lots of giggles as far too many of us attempted to sleep in the same bed.
Darnell had an infectious laugh and a keen sense of humor. She was kind, caring, and always supportive. She was quick to listen and slow to become angry! Darnell's strong faith enabled her to stay strong through all of life's storms that came her way. Her walk with our Lord never wavered, despite the many challenges she faced. Even near the end, she was always interested in what was going on in my life rather than focusing on her own. Darnell was truly a selfless individual that will be greatly missed!
It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to Darnell for now, but I'll look forward to seeing her in our eternal home!
My heartfelt condolences go out to all her family!
Love,
Brenda (Langton) Aepli
