Darlene Dee Ganaway was born on December 12, 1934 to Tannyhill and Maggie Granger. She was number 5 of their 8 children. It was evident early on that she would not be lost in the shuffle. Oh the stories the old farm house could tell. She married the love of her life on July 12, 1959. She is survived by this love, Lester Ganaway Jr. as he learned to say yes ma’am early on and she was known by him as “My Baby.” Together they raised their family of three, Ronnie Pitre’, which preceded her in death, Donna Hunt, and Bobby Ganaway. She affectionately referred to Steve Hunt as her favorite son in law and Julia Ganaway as her favorite daughter in law. She loved life, loved to laugh, called her favorite places to shop visiting her friends, and could play a mean game of cards. Her favorite thing to talk about when together was her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She absolutely lived to corner someone and chat it up about how smart, handsome, and beautiful they were. Her grandchildren, Kaleb and Shawna Ganaway, Thomas “Tommy” Hunt, Kyle Ganaway, Erin Hunt, and Kolby “Cheese” Ganaway simply are not going to know how live without someone having them on a pedestal. Her great-grandchildren thought her to be equally as great. Nevaeh, Jordyn, Sage, Bryton, Ronalyn, Gabriel, and Izabella Ganaway savored every moment spent with Mawmaw and as they talked her ear off while she pretended to listen and hang on their every word. To some she was a sister, Darlene, to others Aunt Dee, to her honey she was “my baby”, to her children she was “Mamma,” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her church family she will ever more be known as “Mawmaw,” but to her Savior she was known as “His child.” On December 17, 2012 she fell asleep and became absent from this body, but ever present with the Lord.
