Curtis T. Monds' Obituary
Funeral services for MSgt (Ret.) Curtis T. Monds, 59, of Leesville, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 in Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of Leesville with Father Kenneth Michiels officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Curtis was born on March 15, 1960 in Wichita Falls, TX to his parents, Thomas Edward & Willie Mae “Sue” Jennings Monds. He passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019.
Curtis served his country for 21 years as a ground radio communications specialist for the United States Air Force. He served in three deployments during OPERATION Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, Kuwait, and Al Udeid, Qatar. His last duty assignment was with the 21st Air Support Operations Squadron at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as the Squadron’s Superintendent, advising the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk Garrison, and 10th Mountain Division on tactical air operations and weather, USAF doctrine, interoperability, and the employment of theater air control and tactical air support assets.
Curtis was a devoted husband of 32 years. He was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, friend, and was very close to his brothers. He was an avid hunter and bass fisherman. He was a great role model for his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in helping others, putting his family first, and always going above and beyond in everything he did.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae “Sue” Monds and his sister Ronda Rene Monds.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Monds of Leesville; father, Thomas Edward Monds (WyNona) of Ketchum, OK; sons, Michael Ebarb (Carie) of Haughton, LA, Cody Monds (Katie) of Leesville, LA; daughter, Melissa Wilson (Brandon) of Odessa, TX; brothers, Greg Monds of Shreveport, LA, James Monds (Ginger) of Keithville, LA; grandchildren, Connor, Erin, Landon, Madison, Ali, Kade, Logan, and grandson on the way, Parker Wade; as well as a host of cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews.
