CSM John H. “Jack” Holman faded away on March 5, 2013, at the young age of 62. Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana, son Jarrod and wife Trina, daughter Lauren, and three perfect grandchildren, Madeline, Gabriel and Ave Read Obituary
CSM Holman was my first 'Pac Supervisor/CSM' and he was awesome. He taught me what he knew about PAC and when it was time for me to get married he called my now husband and I into his office to brief my husband! Loved this guy! I've prayed for him through the years and I pray he rests in peace.
Heard from my old NCOIC SFC Kendrick, my first memory of CSM was that he had selected me to be a part of his color guard upon me arriving to Fort Polk - BJACH in Aug of 1998. I had failed my initial PT test and some people were confused as to why i remained as part of such a honorable group, and upon being questioned by an unnamed person, while we were at practice for the 1998 Holiday Ball, CSM loudly burst out an emphatic "stand down 1st sgt" and that was the end of that. Then there was the time that although he had went fully into retirement, upon being asked CSM put on his dress greens and came to my E4 promotion ceremony to pin me, which touched me deeply. Im extremely sad that he went to be with GOD at such an early age, but glad that he is at peace and ease. God Speed Sargent Major
Diana,Jarrod and Lauren - I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. He will be missed. They don't make them like him anymore. I was so lucky to have served with him (and Diana) for 6 years while stationed at BJACH. Yes I was one of the LTs that grew into a CPT while under Jack's watch and guidance. Team Holman's example of selfless service became a compass to me through my time in the service and even today (15 years later) as I continue to serve as a full time military spouse and mother. I have am so grateful to have crossed paths with Jack and Diana and even more grateful to call them friends. Hugs to the Holman Family
One funny/fond memory of Jack to share. My first child was born at BJACH while I was company commander and of course while Jack was CSM. When I went into labor with Nick - Jack thought it would be great to announce this over the intercom at BJACH (this was before email). He proceeded to announce my status over the intercom several more times until Nick was born. I thought he was crazy at the time but afterwards I knew it was his way of "sharing". Mind you that this was Thanksgiving Day and both he and Diana were at hospital awaiting Nick's arrival. Giving up part of their own family time to support me and my husband.
I just received word, and I'm deeply saddened. There have been a handful of people in my life who have been my true mentors and sources of real inspiration. CSM Holman was one of them -- an exemplary soldier, leader, teacher, and overall great guy. I am a better person because of Jack. I am grateful for all that he did for so many of us.

Heard about from Troy Bidez, and Judy Russell. My deepest condolences and prayers to the family during this time. CSM Holman was the hardest most respectable CSM I ever served under and yes as the flag team leader and holder of the American flag after countless hours of practice and rehearsal we switched the flags by accident on the change of ceremony day - after impressing him enough to receive his coin following an NCO board - I am sure that if it had been anyone else who switched the flags they would have beat him where he is at now - lol. I have many memories and hope that this shed some more laughter in admiration of someone who influenced me enough to be the NCO of the year for BJACH - Thanks CSM Holman - Jack I will see you soon on high ground!!!
