Clennon Wendell Turner's Obituary
Funeral services for the Rev. Clennon Wendell Turner, Sr., 61, of New Llano, will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the New Willow Missionary Baptist Church located at 443 Redtown Rd in Leesville with Rev. Harrison Fields officiating. Burial will be on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 6 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church located at 1110 S. 10th St in Leesville.
Rev. Turner was born on September 29, 1958 in Ferriday, LA to his parents, Leon Smith and Stella Turner. He passed from this life and into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 29, 2019 in Lake Charles, LA surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Rev. Turner served with honor as a medic in the U.S. Army for over 18+ years before retiring in 1994 and some of the medals he received was the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He has been the pastor for many years and founding leader, leading the flock to Christ at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. Turner is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Irvin Edward Lee and his sister, Barbara Jean Buford Whitley.
Left to cherish his memory is his Wife of 41 years, First Lady Glenda Turner of New Llano; his three Sons: Lamont Clemons (Tanja) of Biloxi, MS, Sedric Clemons, Sr. (Sabrina) of New Llano and Clennon Turner, Jr. (Rio) of San Antonio, TX; Mother-In-Love, Odessa Stevenson of Ferriday, LA; his two Brothers: Leon Smith, Jr. (Winnie) and Clifton Smith (Gladys), both of Ferriday, LA; his three Sisters: Jackie Murray of Natchez, MS, Sadie Cook of Ferriday, LA and Barbara Biddy (Thomas) of Roanoke, VA; one Uncle, Johnnie Turner of Ferriday, LA and five Grandchildren: Davion Clemons, Arcianna Clemons, Sedric Clemons, Jr., Jazmyn Turner and Jailyn Turner; two Godsons, Kaleb Overton and Asthon Telfair and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
