Clarence V. Dye's Obituary
Funeral services for Clarence V. Dye, 88, of Leesville, LA will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville with Bro. Irby Perkins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Kaplan, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2010, from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dye was born December 31, 1921, in Cullman, Alabama, the son of Charles and Minnie Stager Dye. He passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010, at his residence in Leesville, LA
Mr. Dye retired as a First Sergeant after serving 20 years, 6 months and 1 day in the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his military career he served in thirteen major campaigns and was held as a prisoner of war three times. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart with two clusters.
Mr. Dye was director of the Auto Craft Shop at Fort Polk, and retired from Post Safety at Fort Polk.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Dye, and one grandson, Patrick Dye.
He is survived by his Wife of 67 years Agnes Dye of Leesville, Louisiana, three sons, Roddy Dye & wife Nell of Opelousas, Louisiana, Pat Dye & wife Liz of Galveston, Texas &Timmy Dye of Leesville, Louisiana, daughter-in-law Sharon “Doubie” Dye of Red Level, Alabama, brother, Autrey Dye of Lafayette, Tennessee, twelve grandchildren, Bobby Dye, Jr., Lisa Edson, Ben Dye, Andy Dye, Alayne Dye, Lauren Dye, Heather Manary, Dana Chadwick, Seth Dye, Sarah Dye, Tye Dye, & Sierra Dye and Eight Great grandchildren,Trae Bowen Dye, Sara Grace Dye, Emily Edson, Ethan Edson, Brianna Chadwick, Landon Chadwick, Brady Chadwick, and Avery Manary
