Cheryl I. Gardner's Obituary
Funeral services for Cheryl I. Gardner, 60, of New Llano will be held Monday, September 17, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Labby Memorial Funeral in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Cheryl I. Gardner was born in Chicago IL on March 28, 1958. She Graduated From Farragut High School, Chicago in 1976. Cheryl served in the United States Army for 15 years completing Basic and Advanced Indivual Training at Fort Lee VA Cheryl served three tours in German. She was assigned to Alpha Battery 2-1 Air Defense Artillery Battalion Baumholder , HHC 501st Military Intelligence Battalion Dexheim, and 6/6 Cavalry(APACHE) Illisheim. Her State assignments were at Fort Carson. Colorado and she also served two separate tours with the 27th Main Support Battalion (Forward) 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood Texas She received numerous awards and commendations during her Military Career.
She is preceded in death by her parents; William Daugherty and Corine Willett Daugherty, brothers; Eugene Cowan and Shawn Kelly, sister; LeAnna Gates.
She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years; Everett Gardner of New Llano, LA, son; Qabah Cowan, daughter; Chauntal Howard both of Chicago, IL, step-daughter; LaKindra Washington of Amarillo, TX, brothers; Martin Daugherty of Las Vegas, NV, Charles Bartrand (Neva) of Alabama, sister; Aileen Thurman of Chicago, IL., 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
