Charles L. Radford's Obituary
Funeral services for Charles L. Radford, 73, of Gardner, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Mora Baptist Church in Mora, LA with the Rev. Don Monk and Rev. David Broussard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mora Cemetery in Mora, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm - 9 pm, Friday, January 7, 2011 at the funeral home and on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 8 am until time of service at the church.
Charles, the son of Edward and Donnie Lee Smith Radford was born on January 1, 1938, in Kentucky. He passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his residence in Gardner, LA. In 1980 he resided in Bunkie, LA before moving to Gardner, LA twenty years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving for twenty years where he worked in hospital administration. While serving in the Air Force he was stationed in Alaska, Guam, Japan, and France and served a tour of duty in Vietnam during the war. Mr. Radford attended LA Tech College in Cottonport, with an interest in carpentry. He was a member of Mora Baptist Church and served as a chairman of Mora Cemetery Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Donnie Radford; 2 sisters, Zelma Snow & Dorothy Cheatham and one brother, Harold Radford.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Audie Radford of Gardner, LA; step-sons, Noel Hurst of Montgomery, AL & Larry Franks of Lafayette, LA; step-daughters, Cathy Thomas of Montgomery, AL, Anita Gober of Wetumpka, AL & Sandra Moore of Slagle, LA; sisters, Nan Broussard of Plaucheville, LA & Judy Harris of Ashville, NC; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Oasis Health Care and the cancer center at Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA and their staffs.
