Mackie:My sincerest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of our Captain. When I hear the name Poe, I always think of Captain Poe and then . sometimes of Edgar Allen. Both were in the army, but only one was a hero to the men he led and gallantly put himself in harm's way for the safety of D Troop, 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry and any other soldier in a tight spot. As you know, Charlie courageously did just that on Mother's Day 1969 volunteering to land his slick as a Medivac. We were and still are heartened by his courage, his friendship and impeccable character. Rest easy Charlie, we will miss you!.Joe McManus - D Troop - Class of '69
