Charles Edward Moses' Obituary
Charles E. Moses 87, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Harbor Hospice Care Facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Charles was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 5, 1938, to Walter Thomas and Ethel Gertrude (Dew) Moses. Charles had two brothers, Norris Wayne Moses (deceased) and Ishmael L. Moses (deceased), two sisters, Pauline (Moses) Cryer (deceased) and Delaine Moses of Delhi, Louisiana.
Charles was raised in Anacoco, Louisiana where he graduated from high school. He worked at a local grocery store through high school. He met Velda Vee Hinson, and they fell in love and were married May 5, 1958. They began their beautiful family while living in Beaumont, Texas and Charles working at his brother -n- law’s roofing business. Later they moved to Houma, Louisiana where Charles found his career working in offshore drilling, he worked himself from a floor hand to tool pusher. To be closer to family they moved their family to Lake Charles in 1964.
Charles and Vel had two children: his daughter Cynthia (Cynde) and known as “Pumpkin” to him and her dear husband Brent Fetzer reside in Lake Charles; son Charles Cleveland and his wife I. Miranda of Power Springs, GA.
Grandchildren: Trent Pettit and his wife Kira of Houston, TX; Derek Pettit of Huntsville, Al; Jordan Pettit of Altamonte Springs, Fl; Jonathan Moses and his wife Caitlin; Claire (Moses) and her husband Wes Barton, all of Power Springs, GA.
He also had five great grandchildren and a new great granddaughter on the way! He also had a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished as well! Along with a very special friend that was dear to his heart, Lucille Johnson.
The gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025, with visitation at 2:00PM until time of service at 3pm; Labby Memorial Funeral Home, 2110 Highway 171 DeRidder, LA. 70634. Graveside service will be held immediately afterwards at Beauregard Cemetery.
