Charles Thomas Marze's Obituary
Charles Thomas Marze, 77, of Anacoco, Louisiana, passed peacefully on May 20,
2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Charles was a devoted Christian whose faith in Jesus Christ guided every aspect of his
life. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he loved others, encouraged those
around him, and faithfully served his church and community. He was the foundation and strength of his family, always providing steady encouragement, wisdom, and
unconditional love.
His greatest earthly blessing was his wife, Lainee, and together they shared 54
wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his faith and
family. He deeply loved his children, but nothing brought him more joy than his
grandchildren. His grands were truly the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy before returning home to
begin a 30-year career with South Central Bell. He was a hardworking and dedicated
man who believed in serving others both through his work and in his community.
Charles also loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Some of the sweetest memories
shared by family and friends were made sitting beside him with a fishing pole in hand,
enjoying simple moments together.
He loved the youth of Vernon Parish and faithfully supported local teams and
student-athletes throughout the years. Whether in the stands, offering encouragement,
or simply showing up to support others, Charles believed in investing in young people
and cheering them on in life.
He never met a stranger. His warm smile, generous spirit, and ability to make everyone
feel welcome left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Cold Springs Baptist Church
was more than a church to Charles – it was family. He loved his church deeply and
faithfully worshipped and served as deacon there for many years. His faithfulness to
both his church and his Savior left a lasting testimony to all who knew him.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lainee Marze of Anacoco, Louisiana;
his two children, Charlie (Wendy) Marze of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Charlotte
(Bobby) Hooks of Hornbeck, Louisiana; his four grandchildren, Carlie (Jack) Bowen of Hager City, Wisconsin, Cammy (Austin) Merchant of Leesville, Louisiana, Cally Hooks
of Hornbeck, Louisiana, and Cade Marze of West Monroe, Louisiana; his great-grandson, Clipton Bowen of Hager City, Wisconsin; his sister, Betty Smith of
Anacoco, Louisiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members,
and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles Lester Marze and Myrtle
Goins Marze.
Though his family’s hearts are broken, they find peace and comfort in knowing that
Charles is now healed and at home with the Savior he loved so dearly.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cold Springs Baptist Church, a place that meant so much to him and our family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 2:00 P. M. at Cold Springs Baptist Church. With a visitation starting at 12:00 P.M. until service time at the church.
