Charles David Green's Obituary
Funeral services for Charles David Green, 79, of DeRidder will be held at 11 A M, Friday, November 4, 2016, in the First United Methodist Church, DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Lamar Oliver and Rev.Jon Tellifero officiating. Private burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2016, from 9:30 AM until the service at the church.
Charles was born May 29, 1937, to Hubert Willard and Arlean Harper Green in DeRidder. He passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in his residence in DeRidder, LA. Charles was a descendant of pioneer families of the Dry Creek, LA area, a 1955 DeRidder High School graduate, and a 1960 graduate of Louisiana State University. After serving 4 ½ years in the United States Air Force, where he was a B52 navigator bombardier, he returned to his hometown of DeRidder where he started and operated C. Green Real Estate and The Insurance Center for nearly 50 years.
Charles was active both professionally and in civic related causes. He served as president and secretary of both Toledo Bend Board of Realtors and Beauregard Insurance Exchange. He was also president of the DeRidder Rotary Club and Jaycees and a member of the DeRidder City Council. He was a charter member of the Beauregard Country Club, as well as a 32 ND degree Mason, and a member of the American Legion. Charles was a Duke of the Annual DeRidder Mardi Gras Court in 1986 and reigned as King in 2006. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and pulling for his LSU Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Arlean Harper Green, his brother Willard Green, and sister Eugenia Green Pope. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Belinda Williams Green, daughter Marci Miksch and husband Doug, daughter Stacey Self and husband Steve, and five grandchildren, Lauren Miksch Frasure and husband Stephen, Adam Miksch, Scott Self, Stephanie Self and Kelli Self.
His family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Companion Care for their time, support and unconditional care and comfort they showed to Charles and his family, and also thank Marilyn, Doretta and Holly for the love and patience they gave to Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association or First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, LA.
