Charles Bates' Obituary
Funeral services for Charles Bates, 66, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14th from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, May 15th from 8:00 a.m. until service time in the chapel.
Charles “Chuck” Bates was born to the union of the late Albert Bates and Ophelia Bates on August 7, 1947, in Chicago, IL. After her husband died, Ophelia remarried Minister James Calloway who helped to raise Chuck until he left home.
When Chuck left home he joined the military. He was a police officer in the U.S. Army; he retired in Leesville, LA where he remained until his death. Upon retirement form the military Chuck was employed with MWR at the bowling alley; where he continued to work until his health failed him.
He is survived by his godsons, Harold Yates, Jr., and Donald Yates both of Leesville; goddaughters, Candice Yates, Stephanie Ferris, Alayna Yates, Kelsie Yates, Chassity Yates, Trinity Yates, Ariana Yates, LaShae Yates and Donna Yates all of Leesville and two special friends, Harold Yates and Sun Yates both of Leesville.
