Charles "Charlie" Balthrop's Obituary
Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Balthrop, 54, of New Llano, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville with Rev. Angela Bulhof officiating. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, then Monday, October 12th from 9 am until service time at the church.
Charles, the son of Brandon Ray and Carolyn Jean Holder Balthrop, was born, December 1, 1960 in Clarksville, TN. He passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, in Alexandria, LA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Jean Holder Balthrop and brother, Rodney Balthrop
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Sherrie Balthrop of New Llano; daughters, Melissa Balthrop of Leesville and Stephanie Balthrop of New Llano; father, Ray Balthrop (Jackie) of Yuma AZ; sister, Susan Shepard (L.A.) of Midwest City, OK and granddaughter, Willow Balthrop.
Charlie was a family man who loved being with his family and friends. On Friday nights “The Boys” got together to play cards and enjoy each other’s company. Charlie was an educator for 28 years, he went from a history teacher to an assistant principal and then on to a principal. He was also a Lay Minister to the Macedonia United Methodist Church of Florien for 3 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Leesville for 29 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Leesville. He was a Councilman of New Llano for 5 terms. He was the man who waved and talked to anyone. He was rooted in his faith until the end and passed during prayer.
