Cecil R. Walker's Obituary
Cecil Raiford Walker was born on April 23, 1923 in DeRidder, LA to James H. and Stella Cryer Walker. He departed this life in his home, with his family at his side, on September 13, 2014 at 2:55pm to be with his Lord and Savior for evermore.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Langton Walker in 2000 and Zola Young Walker in 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Smith of Anacoco and Mickie Stanton of Cottonwood, Arizona; brother, James K. Walker of Anacoco; sisters, Joan Horton, Marcelle Perry and Marquariette Chelf all of Anacoco. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Daniel Ott, Dirk Ott, Patrick Smith, II, of Anacoco, Dawn Chapin of Springtown, T, Andrew Smith of Baton Rouge and Forest Dean of Monroe, LA and 15 great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 17th at 10am in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Brother Truman Keel Officiating. The burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery in Anacoco. Friends may visit from 5pm – 8pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
Cecil proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II and he also served two terms as Post Commander for the VFW at Toledo Bend, TX. He was a printer by trade for 35 years. He will always be remembered by the wonderful poems he so lovingly wrote for his family and friends over the years, and his gentle caring presence in this life.
