Catherine W. Marcantel "Bill" Perkins' Obituary
Funeral services for Catherine W. Marcantel “Bill” Perkins, 85, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, January 3, 2011, in Grace Church in DeRidder with Rev. James Glass, Rev. George L. Glass, Jr., and Rev. George Lee Glass officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M., Sunday, January 2, 2011, and from 8 A.M. until time of the service, Monday, January 3, 2011, all in Grace Church. “Bill” passed away peacefully Saturday, January 1, 2011, in her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Isaac Marcantel and Lucy Elma Cooper Marcantel of DeQuincy, LA. Born and educated in DeQuincy, she also resided in San Diego, CA, and Lake Charles, LA, before settling in DeRidder in 1956. She was co/owner of Perk’s Texaco in DeRidder and then worked for City Savings Bank and Trust Co., Inc, for over 35 years. At her retirement from City Savings, she was a Senior Vice President and in charge of the loan department. She was a member of Grace Church in DeRidder and formerly a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles D. “Perk” Perkins of DeRidder; son, Charles R. Perkins and wife Sammie Jo of DeRidder; daughter, Donna P. Nichols; two sisters, Willa Dean M. “Deanie” VanWinkle, and Cheryl M. Mayo, both of DeQuincy, LA; six grandchildren, Catherine Perkins White, DVM, Charles Kevin Perkins, Samantha Perkins Collins, Jennifer Nichols Templet, Rene’ Nichols Coody and Jonathan Morgan Perkins; and twelve great grandchildren. Donations may be made to Grace Church Building Fund (DeRidder, LA), the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
