Carnie Carl Burns' Obituary
Funeral services for Carnie Burns, 94, of Anacoco will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 13, 2020 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville with Revs Steve Lora and Lindsey Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Self Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Carnie was born on October 8, 1925 in Leesville, to his parents J.W. & Minnie Bridges Burns. He passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana after a short illness.
Mr. Burns was retired after many years of working in the hardware business. He was a faithful member of the Hornbeck United Pentecostal Church, and at the time of his passing, he was their oldest member. His passion in life was farming and he tended gardens all over Vernon Parish. He was very well known as the “Anacoco Watermelon Man.”
He is preceded in death by his parents: J.W. & Minnie Bridges Burns; His Wife: Lelia Estelle Burns; Three Sisters; One Great Granddaughter: Marci Sterling
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter: Carmen Love of Anacoco, LA; Two Brothers: John “J.B.” Burns of Moss Bluff, LA and Billy John Burns of Bossier City, LA; Three Grandchildren: Mark & Sherrie Sterling, Shannon & Kevin Dowdle, and Kim Sterling; Six Great Grandchildren: Lindsey Goins, Alli Nelson, Case Dowdle, Tess Cooley, Sydney Sterling, and Molly Burgess; 8 Great Great Grandchildren
