Carla Phillips Smith's Obituary
Carla Phillips Smith entered into rest on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the age of 68 years, at her home in DeRidder. Carla was born on December 21, 1954, in Dallas, TX to Thomas Carl and Billie Jean Miller Phillips.
Visitation will begin Tuesday April 18, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service which begins at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, LA with Rev. Laraine Waughtal, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at New Camp Ground Cemetery in Sugartown, LA. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
Carla was a member of the First United Methodist Church of DeRidder, she was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, and she was a forensic investigator with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office. She loved to garden, and had a passion for animals and would always be on the lookout for those that needed to be rescued.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Allyson Phillips of DeRidder, Jennifer McCrory-Morales and husband Stephen of Chicago, IL, Tammy V. Stark and husband Gregory of Denton, TX, Thomas R. Smith and wife Melissa of McAlester, OK, Michelle Smith Swart and husband David of Canton, GA, and Michael Sean Smith and wife Belinda of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Kyrstin Gustin, Charles Gustin, Braden Nolen, Tristen Nolen, Gavin Nolen, Avery McCrory, Arabella Morales, Robert Valadez, Brenda Pegram, Laura Smith, Thomas Smith, Jr., Sadie Smith, Lisa Smith, and Dinari Caceres; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna Williams, Jacqueline Culbertson, Sean Lomashey, and Bobby Lomashey; sisters in law, Glenda Ellender and Virginia Self; a special family friend, Joyce Lewis of DeRidder and a host of friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Billie Jean Phillips; husband, Thomas W. Smith.
