Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville.
Brucell was born on September 7, 1931 in Leesville to his parents Charlie and Mabel Burns. He passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at his home in Anacoco.
Brucell was raised in a family where his father worked for the sawmill in Gandy and his mother did the best she could to raise the family. He grew up in hard times and as he put it they “had next to nothing growing up, but always had friends.” He served his country in the United States Navy and after he was discharged, became a mechanic for the military. He worked for Civil Service at Fort Polk until his retirement as a supervisor. He was a man who loved to fish and was very good at it! He also loved to garden and people all over Vernon Parish were familiar with his ability to grow some of the biggest and best tomatoes around.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the love of his life Lamurl Burns.
Left to cherish his memory are his two nieces; Sheila & Randell Langton and Debbie & Carlos Arrambide; his great nieces and nephews: Jason & Cristalle Arrambide, Leila & John Pollard, Shana & Scooter Pollock, and Jarrett & Kelsey Isgitt; his great nieces and nephews: Dreux Arrambide, Avery Arrambide, Dylan Arrambide, Abbey Arrambide, Noah Pollard, Elle Pollard, and Oliver Pollock.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers who took such great care of him.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco or to the American Heart Association.
