Bruce David Peterson's Obituary
Bruce David Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on
February 8, 2025, in Anacoco, Louisiana. Born on December 2, 1949, in Burbank, California to George
Peterson and Bertie Holemon.
Bruce joined the United States Army, where he went on to achieve the rank of 1SGT and retired after
twenty years. He earned many prestigious awards, including the Soldiers Medal for Heroism for averting
a major disaster in Obernsees, Germany. He also earned the Bronze Star Medal for heroism during
Desert Storm.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Renate Lotte Peterson; along with three daughters Sandy
and Lee Jolivette of Killeen, Texas, Tammy and Ronald Barber of Killeen, Texas, and Bettina and Patrick
Clary of Atascadero, California, eleven grandchildren, Christopher Tondre, Mariah Tondre, Tatiana
Tondre, Devin Barber, Brandon Barber, Reba Dufour, Constance Dufour, Cassidy Dufour, Amanda
Manning, Stephen Clary, Brianna Wirt, nine great-grandchildren, Kaiden, D’Quency, D’Quaveon, Matias,
Layla, Gonzalo, Gloria, Patrick, Grayson, and Lilian.
A memorial service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on a later date, details to be
announced.
