Mr. Smith passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home in Evans.
Brandon Claude Smith was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes about how dependable and loyal he was to family, friends, and anyone in need day or night. His selfless spirit and passion for helping others made him the patriarch of the Smith family.
Brandon’s sense of humor and love for his wife and children was shown by his unspoken kindness as well as nicknames for each of them. His wife of nine years, Tara Thibodeaux Smith, was known as “my darling wife” with whom he lovingly endured many hours of her ranting at the television during LSU sporting events. When he spoke of his daughter, Lindsey, it was always “she’s my sweetheart”. His sweetheart received his unconditional love and support. His son Jessy which he called “Jack” was given his love for working on projects as well as his knowledge of how to fix just about anything. With Brandon in his life, Tyler or “Twyler” became an outdoorsman that fishes or hunts nearly every day. Drew, also known as “Egger” to the Smith family, was Brandon’s shadow and shared his love of being a jokester. Ean which Brandon called “Poopster” was his baby, best catfishing buddy and always by his side.
Family was everything to Brandon. His humble, servant heart came from his father. He cherished his mother and was always there to take care of her needs. Brandon was a rock for his siblings and their children. His nieces, nephews, and cousins went to Brandon for their strength in hard times and celebration in good times. He was more than an uncle or family member, he was their best friend and like a father to each of them.
Brandon was a true outdoorsman. He was an avid fisherman and turkey hunter and passed on this love to the next generation. To his family and close friends, he was the “guitar man”. Brandon had an unbelievable but humble talent and passion for playing the guitar. When Brandon played the blues he had a distinct sound like no other.
The Smith family has lost their rock with shoes that will never be filled, but Brandon has left a strong legacy to his family. His understated, clever sense of humor and unique giggle will live on in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, and children. His guitar playing will be missed, but his love for all music genres that he instilled in them will continue to play forever. His kind giving spirit and passion for life will live on in all that knew him.
