I was a student years ago and I just now heard of your passing. You were a great role model to me, and you encouraged me to become the change I wanted to see. The lessons you taught me both in and out of the classroom material have stuck with me years later. I will never forget when you showed up at my familys yard sale and bought every clock in our house!God bless you and your family, and may all be comforted knowing that you live on through the lives you touched.
I literally just heard of your passing. It greatly saddened me! Mr. Booty, you were one of the most enjoyable teachers at Vernon Elementary. You enjoyed picking on people. I told Mom you probably enjoyed picking on me because you knew us well as she was the school secretary at Vernon, and well, you could easily make me blush. You were a lifelong friend to Mom and to me. It did not matter when or where we saw you, it was as if time had not passed...you were always the same. Your laugh was contagious. And your smile...you always looked like you were up to some mischief. ;-) Mom still has the clock you fixed for her a few decades ago, and naturally, it still works. You were a wonderful man. Ironically, I was fondly speaking of you last week unaware this week I would hear of your passing. Thank you for being you and for brightening up the Vernon Parish Schools. You will be missed.

Mr. Booty was my 6th grade teacher at East Leesville Elementary & influenced my life greatly as well as my siblings that had you as well as either a teacher or Principal. He was not only a great educator but wonderful caring man that taught us much more than just subject matter, he taught us about life preparing us to be good stewards and citizens of this great country. My condolences to the family, Vernon Parish has lost a great treasure.
Johnnie Mae, I was so sorry to hear of Rolands passing. I heard about it this morning when Dr. Pat Day of First United Methodist Church in Shreveport asked for prayer for your daughter, Shannon in the passing of her father. I cherish the memory of our time together at Notthwestern and in Mansfield. I know that Roland was a fine Christian man and is rejoicing today in heaven. May the love of family and friends help you in this time of sorrow. I will be praying for you and your family.
