Bong "Mrs. Gilbert" S. Toledo's Obituary
Funeral services for Bong S. (aka Mrs. Gilbert) Toledo, 84, a longtime resident of Leesville will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 12 noon at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Pastor Song and Brother Bill Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
The family will greet friends from 6pm-8pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Toledo (aka Mrs. Gilbert) passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her home in Leesville. She was born August 22, 1933 in Seoul, Korea the daughter of Jai Won and Soon Ei Choi. She was married to Ernest R. Gilbert on December 6, 1955. They were married 40 years. She was united in her 2nd marriage to Jose D. Toledo on May 20, 2002 in Leesville, Louisiana. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2016. They were married for 14 blissful years.
Mrs. Toledo was one of the founding members of the Korean Baptist Church in 1976. She was a dedicated and faithful servant to the Church and our Lord.
She worked for Avon, Ft Polk making Military Nametags for soldiers, Nichol’s and Gibson’s. She raised 3 Children and was an excellent homemaker and mother. She traveled extensively sightseeing such places as the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Israel, Korea and most major cities of the U.S.
She will be remembered for her smile and gentle friendly ways and for her thoughtful manner with her children and anyone she met. She was a friend you could count on.
She is survived by her children: Son: Raymond Gilbert of Anchorage, Alaska; Daughters; Judy (husband, Jeff) Blanchard of Irving, CA and Beverly (husband, Keith) Chance of Leesville, LA; 4 Grandchildren: Carly Blanchard of Santa Cruz, CA, Raymond Tyler Gilbert of Monroe, LA, Jessica Gilbert of Jackson, MS and Annabeth Rawls of Monroe, LA. In addition to her husband, Jose D. Toledo, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jai Won and Soon Ei Choi and 3 sisters and 3 brothers.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association 225 N.
