Bishop accepted Christ at an early age at Davis Creek Baptist Church in Prattsville, Arkansas. Bishop received his formal education in Malvern Colored High School and graduated in 1952.
He was drafted into the Army in May of 1953 and served until September 1, 1976, being honored for 23 years of active military service, where he received numerous awards and certificates.
He had a passion for God and life and praised God from sunup to sundown. He was a member of Johnson Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Pastor Jack Johnson, later he joined Moss Chapel/Ander’s Chapel in Leesville, Louisiana under the leadership of Bishop Vino Anders.
